Highlights
Quick examples of recent and close-to-my-heart work
A database of journalism networks and collectives active in Europe, with profiles voluntarily submitted by journalists representing them, collected after an insightful outreach and connections-building phase. I established the Directory working for Free Press Unlimited as part of the European Excellence Exchange in Journalism project.
As part of my work for the Directory, I interviewed coordinators and managers of European journalism networks and media collectives about the current realities of working in collaborative, cross-border editorial projects, covering challenges including financial sustainability, project management and setting standards.
During my work at DoR, an independent non-profit newsroom in Romania, we moved our entire newsroom to a town in Transylvania to test engaged journalism methods as an antidote to parachute journalism. We won the Innovation Award from the European Press Prize, and this pop-up newsroom was one of many storytelling formats we tested and reversioned at DoR.
Get to know me
I trained as a reporter, and I spent a good part of my career bringing different roles across newsrooms and media organisations at the same table to build exciting journalism products and tell better stories together.
Most recently, I launched the Directory of European Journalism Networks, and supported training and story production grants for cross-border journalism, together with colleagues at Free Press Unlimited.
Previously, I was the digital editor at DoR, a non-profit narrative journalism magazine from Romania, where my role included accessing grant funding for digital development, working to implement digital subscriptions, creating digital experiences for our narrative longform journalism and supporting the work of the editorial team of the daily newsletter Concentrat.
In order to be more relevant in my role as digital editor in a membership-driven organisation and to dive deeper into how I can facilitate newsroom collaborations, I pursued the Product Immersion for Small Newsrooms programme, led online by The Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.
As part of my work at DoR, I represented the organisation in the Engaged Journalism Accelerator, led by the European Journalism Centre, which supported us in the establishment of digital subscriptions and a membership model for our journalism.
Before that, I spent four years documenting media innovation for Journalism.co.uk, chronicling the changing roles of journalists as technology entered newsrooms, and the impact of social networks on journalism practices. I also managed training and professional conferences for journalists.
MEDIA
EVENTS
I have led the production of seven newsrewired conferences between 2015-2018, discussing the latest trends and techniques in digital journalism.
Speakers from CNN, BBC, The Financial Times, The Washington Post, The Times and Sunday Times, The Wall Street Journal, Quartz, The New York Times, BuzzFeed, The Economist, Al Jazeera, the Guardian, Le Monde and other leading media organisations have taken part in newsrewired events.
Additionally, I supported the organisation of The Power of Storytelling conference in Bucharest in 2018 and 2019, and I have presented and moderated sessions at The International Journalism Festival, Global Editors Network Summit, and WAN-IFRA events.
I have been a jury member for WAN-IFRA's Digital Media Awards, for the Startups for News programme and Editors Lab.
